Sharpe Communications is led by founder Kathy Sharpe, BA, MPhil, MCIPR – an award-winning freelance copywriter and communications consultant in Leeds. With 20+ years of experience in further and higher education marketing communications, Kathy understands the complexities and impact of this vital industry.
Kathy is a member of the Professional Copywriters’ Network, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and has CIPR Accredited PR Practitioner status.
Sharpe Communications specialises in education copywriting, but works with clients in many other industries proofreading, editing, supporting external and internal communications, public relations, crisis and change planning, and online content/SEO. Experience
Graduating from the University of Birmingham in 2000 with an MPhil research degree, Kathy has since worked in the PR and Marketing Departments of a range of education and public sector organisations.
Kathy was employed by the Federation of British Artists, Mall Galleries, and King’s College London before relocating to Leeds where she married and had two children. Before making the transition to freelancing, she worked at Park Lane College and at Leeds City College.
Following a large-scale merger of three local colleges in 2009, Kathy was part of the marketing team that led on the award-winning public-relations campaign to establish the third largest further education institution in the UK.
Over the last 20+ years, Kathy has worked with and led communications teams with responsibility for corporate communications, collaborating with Human Resources, Senior Management, and Support Services departments.
